Film Festival Technology Trends of 2016
Have you ever wondered how people existed before technology? The innovation we enjoy today is just the tip of the iceberg for the tech revolution ahead of us, “#makingmoves.” Unlike global warming, no one is in denial about that. We live in an increasingly “connected” world, with no end in sight. In accordance, businesses are forced to adapt and conform to the changing times, and no industry is exempt; conform or die, that’s the name of the game, and film festivals are no exception. As we near the end of 2016, we wanted to take a minute to look at a few of the notable “disruptive” technology trends of this year and their influence on film festivals. Wait, what is disruptive technology?
“A disruptive technology is one that displaces an established technology and shakes up the industry or a ground-breaking product that creates a completely new industry.” Now we know, and knowing is half the battle.
There is a device, an app, a service for everything, and almost everyone is just one Google or Facebook search away. Machines are getting smarter, I’m feeling dumber, and we’re becoming increasingly digitally linked to the environment, technology, and even other people. Time isn’t slowing down so you can catch up, and neither will evolution and innovation of disruptive technology and trends. What does this mean for businesses? Businesses must keep up with the trends and fall by the wayside. Regardless of the industry, there is inevitably a disruptive technology that businesses must be aware of and keep up with, in order to stay relevant and competitive. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will talk about some of the trends that have emerged in the world of film festival production! We will discuss three notable disruptive film festival technology trends including device meshing, the ambient user experience (UX) and the Internet of Everything (IoE).
